David S. Lucas is the Edward Pettinella Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University and a research fellow with the Institute for an Entrepreneurial Society. His research deals with the intersection of entrepreneurship, organizations, and public policy, with an emphasis on grand societal challenges.

David's research has been published Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Research Policy, Small Business Economics, Southern Economic Journal, Journal of Housing Economics, Public Management Review, and more. His work has garnered awards including the Lazaridis Award for best paper of the year in the Journal of Business Venturing, the Edward Pettinella Assistant Professorship in Business and the Dean’s Research Citation from the Whitman School of Management, the Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference Best Paper in Public Policy, and the B Academic Roundtable People’s Choice Award.
