Peter Bent

Assistant Professor of Economics, American University of Paris

Peter Bent is an assistant professor of economics at the American University of Paris. He earned his PhD in economics at University of Massachusetts, Amherst. His research interests are political economy, economic history, economic development, and financial crises. His current research focuses on the role that international capital flows played in financial crises during the “first period of globalization” in the decades leading up to World War I. He holds an MSc in economic history from the London School of Economics and Political Science, a MA in economics from the University of New Hampshire, and a BA in political economy from Evergreen State College. Peter was a Mercatus Center Adam Smith fellow during the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 academic years.
