Miranda Chase is a PhD candidate in global governance & human security at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Her research interests include environmental politics in the Brazilian Amazon region, focusing on how civil society groups influence policymakers regarding the construction and management of large dams. Miranda earned an MSc in integrated water management from the University of Queensland and a BA in international relations from the University of Brasilia. She was a Mercatus Center Adam Smith Fellow during the 2017-2018, 2018-2019, and 2019-2020 academic years and a Don Lavoie Fellow during the spring 2021 semester.
