Stephen Jones

Stephen Jones is an alumnus of the Mercatus Center MA Fellowship at George Mason University. He is currently an Economist in the Regulatory Shop with the US Coast Guard. Stephen graduated summa cum laude from Florida Atlantic University with a BA concentrating in economics. He worked at Tenke-Fengurume Mining in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as a Community Development Special Projects Assistant and has interned with the State Department. Stephen was also a NSEP-Boren Scholar to Tanzania and received a Council of American Ambassadors Fellowship. His research interests include the political economy of the administrative state, theory of regulation, development economics, constitutional economics, and institutional economics. Stephen's current research examines the political economy of failed states, the causes of regulation, and the complexity and outcomes of the regulatory process.
