Sam Schmitt is a PhD student in political science at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. His research interests include how individuals can best pursue their various conceptions of the good life, how institutions oriented towards facilitating individuals' pursuit of the good life should be designed, and how "illiberal" institutions operate and interact within a broader liberal market order. Sam earned an MA in philosophy and a BA in political science from Bowling Green State University. He was a Mercatus Adam Smith Fellow during the 2018-2019 academic year.
