Oliver McPherson-Smith is a DPhil student in politics at the University of Oxford. His research interests include business regulation, trade policy, and economic development. In particular, he is interested in applying political science theories of elite cohesion to the recent histories of business regulation reform in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. Oliver earned an MA in Middle Eastern studies from Harvard University and a BA in land economy from the University of Cambridge. He was a Mercatus Center Frédéric Bastiat fellow during the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 academic years.
