Nikhar Gaikwad

Assistant Professor of Political Science, Columbia University

Nikhar Gaikwad is an assistant professor of political science at Columbia University. Previously, he was an instructor of political science at Columbia University and a postdoctoral fellow with the Niehaus Center for Globalization and Governance at Princeton University. He earned his PhD in political science at Yale University in 2016. Nikhar’s research focuses on examining how economic policies are contested in the electoral arena in emerging economies. He earned his MA and MPhil in political science from Yale University and earned his BA in economics and political science from Williams College. Nikhar was a Mercatus Center Adam Smith fellow for the 2014-2015 academic year and a visiting dissertation fellow during the 2015-2016 academic year.
