Nathan Sawatzky

Independent Scholar

Nathan Sawatzky is currently an independent scholar. Previously, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his PhD in political science at the University of Notre Dame. Nathan's research focuses on the roots of economic and political liberalism in ancient political thought.  His teaching interests span the history of political thought, the comparative politics of the developing world, and the ethics of humanitarian interventions. He earned an MA in political science from the University of Notre Dame, a BA in philosophy & international development studies from the University of Winnipeg, and a BA in intercultural studies from Providence University College. Nathan was a Mercatus Center Adam Smith fellow during the 2013-2014 and 2015-2016 academic years.
