Michael Lachanski is a PhD student in Demography and Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania. He earned an MPA in Public Policy and a BA in Economics from Princeton University. He was a Visiting Dissertation Fellow during the 2022-2023 academic year and a Frédéric Bastiat Fellow during the 2021-2022, 2019-2020, and 2018-2019 academic years. His research focuses on American educational inequalities in the nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty first centuries. He examines how education structures create and replicate inequalities.
