Kelly Nelson

Kelly Nelson is a PhD student in economics at North Carolina State University and was a Mercatus Center Adam Smith fellow during the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 academic years. His research interests include institutional analysis and institutional survival and he is currently focusing on the cost-minimization strategies of rulers and institutions and how the contractual environment in which they operate determines the nature of their costs. Kelly earned an MS in global affairs from New York University and a BA in history from the University of Maryland, College Park.
