Katie Hess is a PhD student in political science at Florida State University. Her research interests include business-state relations, corruption, and the rule of law with a geographic focus on Russia and the former Soviet Union. Her dissertation explores judicial behavior in the Russian commercial courts, examining the process of judicial selection and its consequences for judicial decision-making and judicial evaluation. Katie earned an MA in political science from the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York and a BA in political science from The College at Brockport, The State University of New York. She was a Mercatus Center Don Lavoie Fellow during the spring 2021 semester.
