Jesse Rumsey-Merlan is a PhD student in anthropology at Princeton University. His dissertation examines the relationship between historical factors, such as land-holding, colonial-era legal documentation, religious conversion, and current trends in labor migration out of the state, and their effects on variable migration outcomes in the state of Goa, India. Jesse earned an MA and a joint BA and BAs in Asian and Pacific studies from the Australian National University.
