Freddy Chen is a PhD student in political science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research interests include the intersection of international political economy and international security, and specifically, the role of trade and economic interdependence in affecting international security as well as in the geopolitical sources of various economic policies. Freddy earned an MA in international relations from Peking University and a BA in international politics from Tsinghua University. He was a Mercatus Center Adam Smith Fellow during the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 academic years.
