Donovan Fifield is a PhD student in history at the University of Virginia. His research interests include early America and the Atlantic World, particularly the relationships between empires, colonists, and the effects of commerce and finance on historical societies, as well as the size and powers of imperial and colonial states. Donovan earned a BA in history from the University of Connecticut. He was a Mercatus Center Adam Smith Fellow during the 2021-2022 academic year.
