Derek Tharp

Derek Tharp is an assistant professor of finance at the University of Southern Maine. He earned a PhD in personal financial planning at Kansas State University. He is the founder of Conscious Capital and previously worked for Robert W. Baird & Co. as a financial advisor. He graduated from Iowa State University in 2012 with a BS in finance and a MFCS in family and consumer sciences. His research interests include personal financial planning, financial literacy, and educational psychology. Derek was a Mercatus Frédéric Bastiat fellow and a Mercatus Center Visiting Dissertation fellow.
