Christoph Sponsel is a PhD student in political science at the University of Oxford. His research interests cover the causes, dynamics, and consequences of collective action and political violence with a focus on Latin America. His dissertation analyzes the impact of civil conflict peace agreements on democracy, post-conflict social mobilization, as well as illicit economic activities of armed insurgents during Colombia’s civil war. Christoph earned an MA in international & development economics from Yale University, an MSc in international trade, finance & development from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, and a BBA in European management from Lancaster University and Comillas Pontifical University. He was a Mercatus Center Don Lavoie fellow during the spring 2021 semester.
