Brandon Folse is a PhD student in Sociology at the University of Oregon. He earned an MA in Asian Studies from the University of Oregon and a BA in History & English from Nicholls State University. He was an Adam Smith Fellow during the 2021-2022, and 2022-2023 academic years, and a Don Lavoie Fellow during the 2020-2021 academic year. His research studies climate migration in Coastal Louisiana. In particular, it explores the cultural and social decline when the physical land to which it is anchored is literally eroding, with a particular focus on the people who have left due to disasters and other aspirational reasons, and their relationship to those who remain in their at-risk communities.
