Alvin Camba is a PhD student in sociology at Johns Hopkins University. His research interests include using mixed-methods approaches to derive the determinants of Chinese foreign direct investment, the dynamics of elite competition, and the political-economic effects of these phenomena on the developing world. Alvin earned an MA in sociology from Binghamton University, an MSc in economy, state and society from University College London and a BA in history from the University of the Philippines Dilimann. He was a Mercatus Center Adam Smith fellow during the 2018-2019 academic year.
