Aleida Baumgartner is an MA student in economics at New York University. Her research interests include international development, poverty, and economic inequality, with emphasis on the roles cultural, religious, legal, and informal institutions play in economic development. Aleida earned a BS in economics from George Mason University. She was a Mercatus Center Joseph Schumpeter fellow during the spring 2018 semester and the spring 2019 semester.
