Ada Johnson-Kanu is a PhD student in political science at the University of California, Merced. She studies the political economy of development in democratizing states with a regional focus on Africa, particularly Nigeria. Most of her work asks how political institutions and historical events shape distributive politics comparatively. Ada earned an MA and a BA in economics from the University of Akron.
