Claudia Williamson is an associate professor of economics, Drew Allen Endowed Fellow, and Co-Director of the Institute for Market Studies at Mississippi State University. Claudia is also an affiliated scholar with the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. She was previously a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Development Research Institute at the New York University.Her main research interests lie at the intersection of applied economic development and political economy. She has authored over 30 articles in refereed journals including the Journal of Law and Economics, World Development, Journal of Comparative Economics, Journal of Corporate Finance, Public Choice, Journal of Institutional Economics, Kyklos, and Southern Economic Journal. She has also contributed multiple chapters to edited books, written book reviews, and policy briefs. Her research has appeared in popular press outlets, such as The Economist and the BBC.
